STARDOT, Incorporated was founded in May, 2000 by Mike Lockett. Mike has a degree in electro-mechanical engineering, over a decade of experience as a computer programmer, and a life-long passion for automation. Mike merged his education, experience and passion to create STARDOT Home Automation.

Mike's dream and STARDOT's mission is to bring custom electronics integration into your home so your family can enjoy security, convenience, entertainment and energy savings tailored to your lifestyle.

• 2007: STARDOT opens state-of-the-art showroom in Lakeville, Minnesota.

STARDOT named TruAudio Outstanding Dealer of the Year at CEDIA 2007.
STARDOT selected as an HAI 5-Star dealer for the 5th year in a row!
STARDOT invited to be a member of the Better Business Bureau! (BBB) 

• 2006: STARDOT joined the ConnectHome installer association.

STARDOT selected as an HAI 5-Star dealer for the 4th year in a row!
A STARDOT installation was selected for Russound's feature Spring story.

• 2005: STARDOT became a certified CEDIA member.

The STARDOT team...

Bill Schnellman is licensed to provide Stardot’s “Structured Wiring Engineer” certification service. He has been involved in the Voice/Data/Video industry since graduating college, was a US Navy aviator, and has always loved electronics. Bill has been married 42 years, has three children and four grandchildren, all living within a mile of his home. His hobby is building and flying RC airplanes.

Justin Larson is a Senior Installer with Stardot, and has been working with smart home technology since 2005. He has integrated Smart Home Technology into his own home, and enjoys “doing things no one thought could be done” for his customers. Justin is finishing his Junior year in college with a double major in Psychology and Business and enjoys running, 4-wheeling and motorcycling in his free time.

Dan Maughan has been an Installer with Stardot since 2003. He’s always been fascinated with computers and has studied the industy for 20 years. He built home security simulators for Honeywell prior to coming to Stardot, and his background is in programming and networking. Dan loves giving customers the ability to control home systems from anywhere. One thing Dan really enjoys about his job is seeing customers’ reaction to what they can do…”it’s amazing!” Dan and his wife have been married seven years and have two children.

Steve Robinson is one of Stardot’s Senior Installers. He received his Electronics Degree in 1987 after two years of study at the MN School of Business. In his career, Steve has repaired processors and printers, worked in Sales and Management for major electronics retailers, and has installed phone, data and satellite systems. His job satisfaction comes from his interaction with customers: building good rapport with them, making sure they’re happy throughout the process, and exceeding their expectations. “It’s the little things that can make a difference,” he says. At the end of the day, when the customer says, “this is what I wanted,” that makes it all worthwhile. Steve is an avid hunter, and his favorite pastime is maintaining a hockey rink in his backyard. Steve’s been married 18 years and has a married stepson and an 11-year-old son.
